Thinking About...

It is the end of school for child two so it is time for moving stuff back in that seems to have doubled in size. We have been going through lots of stuff and trying to see if we can get rid of some things!   I like this picture because it looks so nice and empty! And of course it is a very nice stairway (thank you Lew)!

This picture was taken last fall.  It makes me hungry for fresh veggies from the garden:)

I believe this picture was taken last summer and reminds me of all the wildflowers that will soon be blooming.  And I am looking forward to planting the window boxes:).  That's all for today:)

Everyday Things

When I was taking pictures of the tablecloth below I saw the bread on the counter.  So here is a picture of bread!  I have decided it is harder than I thought to take pictures of food. (I'll keep practicing!) In regard to the bread I have started adding ground flax meal and oatmeal.  I still want to try some of the no knead artisan bread.  There are a couple of books I've seen that sound good.  When I learn how to put a link to one I will:)

This is the tablecloth project.  The top originally was a plain linen rectangle tablecloth.  It is a natural linen and I always like linen but several family members always thought it looked worn out, strange etc.  Anyway it didn't really fit the table as it is oval. So after I had put it away for awhile I finally pulled it out one day and cut it to fit the top and used some sheer fabric (so you could still see the table) for a slightly ruffled side.  It is an improvement but it has some trouble with it rippling at the ends.  This may be because I didn't stay stitch the curves.  I have some other fabric that I may try this same idea with so it will probably show up here someday.  Keep sewing!

Cherry Blossoms

The sweet cherries are in full bloom (probably about 3 weeks ahead of normal).  So there was a quick trip to the farm to get the first spray on and start getting ready for the new season:).  I took lots of pictures because it is just so beautiful.  This picture is a close up of the sweet cherry blossom.

The pink flowers on the top are from a purple leaf plum tree.

I just like the colors in this picture.

This is a trillium that was in the woods.  I had to move branches or I would have taken lots more flower pictures.

Because you want to get good pollination you bring in bee hives.  They are placed in various places in the orchard.  It needs to be warm and not too much wind for the bees to leave the hives and go out in the orchard.

And finally the trees did get sprayed.    If you live near any orchards in bloom be sure and take a drive and enjoy!

Tulips

I was very excited to discover I have some tulips blooming in the yard.  I love flowers but for various reasons have not been able to get any flower plantings done.  However, at some hopeful time I bought some bulbs (tulips and glads I think) and put them on a shelf and forgot them.  When cleaning one day discovered them rather dried up but decided to put them in the ground and see if anything would grow.  This was probably a couple of years ago.  So when I looked out the window and saw something red I was very happy to discover tulips:)

We are continuing working on the carport (future garages) roof.  It is good to get the tar paper covered. Three sides left!

Today I also worked on a tablecloth for the dining room table.  I'm using a linen tablecloth cut to the top size and adding a ruffle.  I will take a picture when it is done (someday)!

Weekend

Last weekend was busy with lots of cooking and various activities.  We had a surprise belated birthday dinner,

cooked a meal (including twice baked potatoes) to take over to someone's house on  Sabbath,

and girls making a cake, cupcakes, and cookies. That is pesto in background.

We have recently been using some vegan cookbooks (cookies, cupcakes, and brunch) that we like very much.  Some of the things are similar to what I do since I don't like eggs.  But easier to do with a recipe to follow and some recipes are an improvement on what I have made or just a new delicious idea.  The authors are I. Moskowitz and T. Romero and you can see the books on amazon if you are interested.

We also got to go a baby shower:) (Linda, we loved the booties and wish I had taken my camera).

I still haven't figured out how to adjust the header picture.  So much to learn!

Lots of flowers and trees in bloom and I hope I can get a picture before they are gone. Have a great spring day:)

Header Picture

Well I have changed the picture once again.  I am still trying to figure out how to move the type and or picture to the position I want.  It may take me awhile:).  (Since I have really only told some family about this blog I am probably the only one that has seen all the changes.)  Lots of rain today so it made working on business stuff easier.  I like looking at the happy sunflower!

Weekend

We got to check out the cherry trees over the weekend.  The trees are definitely ahead of a normal schedule!

It was time to put some fertilizer on.

I am still thrilled with the replacement windows that were put in last summer:)

Thank you to our friends for supper Saturday evening.  Because I had misplaced my camera I didn't get any pictures of some of the wonderful paintings she has done.   I will get some next time I'm there.  I am using a Canon sd780 which is a point and shoot camera.  It is automatic but it has lots of different settings to choose from so I am trying to figure out the ones that are best for pictures I like.  I used the digital macro for the bud pictures.

I Love Dahlias!

I do love flowers and right now the dahlias are absolutely beautiful!  Here are a few pics of dahlias and sunflowers!  Hope they brighten u...
