A long beautiful fall...

It has been a beautiful fall.  The trees holding their leaves longer than usual.  But today snow fell and reminded me winter has waited long enough.  Enjoy these pictures that are still showing some of that fall beauty!

Cherry Season!

Yes!  We were blessed with a good crop this year!  It was very busy and some of the hottest harvest days ever.  We have one small block of Balaton cherries left to harvest but the processor wants them to be very sweet so we are patiently(?) waiting until Monday.  I have also been busy with making apricot jam and some Montmorency cherry juice.  Below are some pictures that I am using for cards.  May your summer be filled with wonderful fruit and beautiful flowers!

Spring in Michigan!

The cherry trees are all in full bloom along with other flowering trees and bushes.  The pictures below are of sweet cherries which bloom first followed by the tart (or sour) cherries.  It was unbelievably cold when the first three pictures were taken.

This is a block of tart cherry trees.  (The picture is from my husband's phone:)

Wherever you are I hope you have some beautiful flowering trees to enjoy!

Landscape Project Pictures

Spring is slowing coming.  The forsythia bushes are in bloom and lots of daffodils and crocuses!  It should be a beautiful weekend and hopefully a good time to photograph flowers.  Here are the pictures from my landscape assignment.  Both pictures are taken in relatively the same area of Lake Michigan (Silver Beach) but on different days.   I love lighthouses and Michigan is a great place to see them.  Now to a different project.   I finally(!) found a fabric to cover our dining room chairs!  And even got the fabric on the chairs. Photos next time!

Have a beautiful day wherever you are!

Waiting for Spring...

It is April now and thankfully we have not had the weird weather of 2012.  However,  I am enjoying the daffodils blooming and hoping for a bit warmer weather so the spring flowering bushes and trees will feel like coming out.  I have more pictures to share (soon) from my class and I'm hoping to start some sort of sewing project.

Enjoy the Spring flowers!

Photography

It is still winter in Michigan:)  Lately my time has been spent taking pictures for my class and then trying to learn how make them better in Adobe Lightroom.   Because of the weather I took most of pictures for my last assignment inside.  Thankfully I have some inside plants with flowers!  Here are a few pics:

This is not for an assignment but this was my valentine this year from my husband!

Lots to learn about food photography!

Working on depth of field.

Such a beautiful flower!

Looking forward to summer and having geraniums outside!

May your week be filled with sunshine!

Happy Valentine's Day

Quite a jump from November to February!  I hope anyone reading this has had time for some knitting, sewing, or making something!  My current knitting project, a shoulder cozy, is from the book Gifted by Mags Kandis.  (Picture coming soon!)

I'm also excited to be in a digital photography class and hopefully will learn how to use my camera!  Here is a picture from my latest assignment:

A few weeks/months ago the blog hooked on houses asked for kitchen pictures.  I submitted some but didn't think they were going to be used.  Imagine my surprise when I happened to be checking the blog and there was my kitchen!  Very exciting for me!  Here is the link: http://hookedonhouses.net/2013/02/01/8-smaller-kitchens-my-readers-cook-in/
