An Extra Day! Time to Catch Up!!

Well how time flies!  As I look at my title I'm thinking maybe I should say I'm only catching up to where I think I should be which is always further away than where I am!!  So on this leap year day (and every day) I will be happy with accomplishing something every day, look forward to learning new things every day, always be grateful for the many blessings around me each day, and most importantly be the person Jesus is leading me to be!!

I am currently in a beginning quilt class which does a different block every week.  I'm using fabric I have on hand except for a few colors I might add.  I decided to use a white background instead of the more usual black after getting some ideas from a magazine. Here are the ones I have done so far:

As you can see I am still trying to master the precise matching of points!  I'm looking forward to getting better with practice:)

My list of goals are still good but I have decided to really focus on exercise for March.  And hopefully continue working on the others as well.

Wow!! It's 2•0•1•6 !!!

Happy New Year!  What a blessing to begin a new year!  May God draw closer to me and you and each member of our families and friends!  And may we all want more than ever His soon return!

It is snowing:) here in Michigan.  Winter has finally arrived.  I'll be trying to get the right exposure on some snow pictures and hoping we'll get some sunshine tomorrow.  Quite a gray week.  Maybe this will be the year I actually keep track of sunny/gray days.

So my plans for the new year and this blog are...

      •  Try and post at least two times a week
      •  Share something inspirational
      •  Do something with knitting/sewing/paper and share what I have learned
      •  Take more pictures:)
      •  Exercise everyday and focus more on healthy habits

And if I can follow this plan maybe I will try and share this blog more with others and not just see it as something for me.  Maybe having more than two people read it?:)

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year!  God bless.  And smile!

PS: I must add to my plans:  Improve my computer skills!

December (2015!) is here...

My age is showing when I realize how many times I think about how fast time is passing but I'm very happy with each and every minute that God gives me!  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. And now the Christmas season is here to turn our thoughts to the greatest gift ever!  Jesus is truly the best and only reason for this joyous season. Just seeing that sentence reminds me (again) to honor Him is to serve others through all our activities:) Hoping we all draw closer to Him this season!

I like giving calendars and books to family but because of computer problems I have missed out on Shutterfly's wonderful free offers, but I'm still hoping to make a calendar or two. Also I'm having to learn how to store pictures somewhere else and just sort through the thousands on my hard drive!  Other projects include a baby gift that needs finished, several knitting projects, and new books:)

Last Day of September

Although it does not look as fall like as the above picture shows the cooler temperatures and earlier sunsets are sure to bring the beautiful fall colors soon.

The biggest farm project now is to get the ground ready for new trees next Spring.  I have enjoyed getting to do more tractor work:).  There is still plenty of roots and rocks to be picked up but we are ready for fumigation.

I'm sewing, knitting, and card making here and there.  I have been reading about using a different site for a blog and thinking about how to figure out a faster way to add pictures and redesign things.  I also am thinking about what might sell on Etsy.  So we will see where that goes!

If you are making something today or baking something today or reading a good book today:  Enjoy!

Summer, Harvest, Storm

It was a hot and dry July and we were looking forward to finishing harvest.  I forgot how quickly things can change.  We were taking pictures of the sky and noticed how fast the weather was changing.  So it was a dash to the house and then the basement and ten minutes later the 80-100 mph wind, hail, and rain had left quite a mark on our part of Michigan.  Very thankful we were safe!!  Our neighbor said she hadn't seen a storm like that in all her eighty years.  We did finish harvesting our last block today although about 75 percent of the cherries had blown off during the storm :(.

Now it is August and the days are speeding by!!  I have several house projects that I'm hoping to tackle once we get the clean up done.  I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and enjoy each moment!

June Activities

Here on the farm the cherries are getting bigger and some even showing color.  Harvest is probably about 2-3 weeks away.  This year we are adding a farm shop (which has been in the garage up to this time). It is always fun to have a building project going on even when it adds a lot of extra things to be done. The flowers in the window boxes are starting to grow and bloom:) and this year I put in some random veggies like brussel sprouts and parsnips. Following are a few pictures of what's happening in my corner of the world:)

I'm Posting Everyday ... Starting Now!

That is definitely an "April Fool"!   As you can see nothing has changed since February.  Help!!  As I have said before I'm going to try and do better!:)  March was a busy month with some travel, a lot of driving, and working on taxes among other things.  One of the things that I'm enjoying doing is scanning old photos and putting them in a Shutterfly book.  It is a great way to group events, time periods, or favorite subjects.  Since I didn't do very well on the baby book record for my kids I'm hoping they enjoy their early years captured in a picture book.  Shutterfly is very easy to use and they often have some free offers for books which means you only pay the postage.  They also have lots of sales and many things besides the books.    (I'm not being paid by them or anything.  I just like using their company).

So my thought for the day is don't procrastinate with your pictures.  At least organize them in albums on your computer.

Have a wonderful day! and enjoy whatever you are doing! Here are some pictures from my travels:
